About the Event
On October 24, Nicholas Performing Arts presents Lady D’s newest production, Appalachian BlueSpeak, live on the Seelinger Stage. This powerful performance blends music, visual art, poetry, and storytelling into an immersive journey through Appalachian identity and memory.
Featuring her band The Mission, the show includes original songs such as “Go Higher,” alongside deeply personal narratives from Lady D’s youth. Audiences will experience a rich tapestry of childhood photographs, recent paintings, and spoken reflections that illuminate the roots of her artistry and the spirit of the mountains.
Appalachian BlueSpeak is more than a performance — it’s a celebration of heritage, resilience, and the creative voice of Appalachia.
